Here are som information about how to get around in the area. You can choose different means of transportation, and here are links to timetables and the websites for each transportation company:

Getting from Stavanger to:
- Preikestolen and the beginning of Lysefjorden

Take the ferry from Stavanger to Tau (45 minutes). From Tau, there are 20 km to Preiketolen Parking and approx. 25km to Forsand which is a small village at the beginning of the fjord. Preikestolen parking has toilet facilities, information and food service. Preikestolen Fjellstue are also located next to the parking. There are no toilets along the trail.
You can also drive the road E39 to Sandnes, then follow the 25km long road Rv. 13 to Lauvvik . Take the tourist ferry from Lauvvik to Lysebotn or the ferry from Lauvvik to Oanes (10 min). From Oanes it's about 15 km to Preikestolen Parking.

 

- Kjerag or Lysebotn

Get the tourist ferry from Lauvvik to Lysebotn or drive 146km  from Stavanger via E39 to Gjestdal, Hunnedalen, Sirdalen, and then drive over the famous Lysebotn  road to the mountain restaurant Øygardstøl where the hike starts (140 km)
